Meeting Time

You might be wondering, "how many minutes do I have for each meeting?" Meeting minutes are unlimited if it’s created and hosted by the Class/Group Owner. However, if a Teacher creates a Zoom event for other members in the class using the “allow join before host” feature and the Teacher never joins the meeting, the meeting will be limited to 40 minutes.

Event Reminders

To make sure your students don't miss your virtual class, configure your event to include a Zoom event reminder! Zoom event reminders are easy to add by simply:

  1. Navigate to the Class/Group to which you want to send a Zoom event
  2. Select Create > Zoom Event
  3. Fill out event's details
  4. Click on the option, Add Reminder under Remind Participants
  5. Adjust the minutes before the meeting you want to send the reminder out with the arrows. A minimum of 10 minutes is required.

Zoom Recording in Zoom App and Storage

Recording your Zoom events and storing them is even easier with Edmodo. After launching the event with the Zoom desktop app (not through Edmodo), the host will see the option to record Zoom Meetings to the local computer (not cloud).

Once your meeting is finished, recordings are converted and saved on your local computer from Zoom desktop app. The recording will include the following title and information:

  • Users/[USERNAME]/Documents/Zoom
  • File title: Date time [event name] meeting ID (ex: 2020-12-04 10.09.20 zoom recording test 85884471914)

NoteAt this time, Zoom Meetings can not be recorded nor stored to the Cloud. For more information on possible improvements in this area, please reach out to your Account Manager.

Zoom Passcodes

Zoom Passcodes are not necessary to join and certainly are not required for all Edmodo users who want to enter and join a meeting. For all non-Edmodo users who are invited to join the meeting, a passcode can be used.

Co-Hosting (Zoom Desktop App only)

There may be times where you have set-up a meeting for your Class/Group but you cannot join, want to add a Co-Host just in case, or need to change the host of the meeting entirely. read below for a quick answer guide on all things Hosting and Co-Hosting an Edmodo Zoom event. :

  • How Do I Change the Host?: Changing the Host of a meeting to an alternate Host can only be done once the creator of the event has launched the meeting.
  • Can Co-Teachers of a Class, Group or Small Group launch a Zoom meeting that is created by the original Class/Group Owner?: No, the creator of the event is the only person who can launch the meeting. If and only if the creator of the event selects “Allow join before host” AND deselects “Enable Waiting Room” options, anyone can join the meeting without the host launching it.
  • Can another Teacher be a Co-Host? Co-Host status can currently only be given via Zoom's desktop app.

Zoom Participants

It's possible that you may want to invite participants from outside your Organization or school affiliation to join your Zoom event. Zoom events on Edmodo are open to all members of the Class/Group regardless if they have the same school or organization affiliation as you.
