Using Polls and Wellness Checks on Edmodo (Teacher)

Polls are a great way to get immediate feedback on an assignment, reading, or current event. They can be used to activate background knowledge for students. Wellness Checks let teachers quickly gauge students' social-emotional well-being. Read below for more details on sending Polls and Wellness Checks:

Sending a Poll:

  1. Navigate to your Class/Group
  2. Click in the post message box
  3. Click on Create a Poll at the bottom of the pop-up
  4. Type your Poll question in the text box in the section labeled Type your poll question here...
  5. Type the Poll response options in the text box in the sections labeled Type option here...
    • Click Add an option to add additional response options
    • Use our Rich Text editor to customize your text
  6. Send your Poll with one of these two options:
    • Post will publish the Poll immediately and allow your students to answer.
    • Schedule time.png to choose a specific day and time to publish your Poll. Once you've set the time, click Save Date and Time to confirm the scheduled Poll.
  7. The Poll's Total Votes will display in the bottom right-hand corner. Click Reload reload.png to keep up with your students' participation in real time.

Note: Polls have a 140 character limit. Once a Poll has been sent to a Class/Group, you cannot edit it. Polls are anonymous and Teachers cannot see which student gave which response. Poll results do not show up in your Progress area. They are meant as a one time pulse taking feature. If you need to see student responses, try sending a one-question Quiz, which allows Teachers to see individual responses.
