We are excited to let you know that on June 30, 2016, the Edmodo Store transitioned into its new home, Edmodo Spotlight.
We launched the Edmodo Store in 2012 to give teachers access to high quality third party educational tools. Since then, we’ve had hundreds of thousands of teachers use the apps on our platform to supplement students’ academic achievements. In 2015, we launched Spotlight as a one-stop shop for great teaching resources, and it has grown to house third-party content as well.
Because there are many overlapping qualities between the Edmodo Store and Spotlight, on June 30th, all up-to-date Edmodo Store apps automatically transitioned into Spotlight.

What about the apps I’m currently using?
If you were currently using an up-to-date app, you will still be able to access it. After June 30th, if your app is not up to date, you will no longer be able to access the app through Edmodo. If the app is up to date, you can access the app via Edmodo Spotlight, and it will remain in your Apps Launcher. Check the Spotlight apps listing if you want to know whether an app is up to date. If you see it in Spotlight, it’s up to date.
What does it mean for an app to be up to date?
An app is up to date if the App Creator went through the process of upgrading the app to meet our new requirements. It is a technical designation - if an app is not up to date, it’s not your fault!
All up-to-date apps have a "Login with Edmodo" button on their site, so you and your students will not need to remember any extra logins. Simply login with your Edmodo credentials :)
Updating an app to meet our new requirements is outside of the teachers’ and students’ control - it is in the App Creator’s control. Feel free to contact your favorite App Creators and let them know you like accessing their app through Edmodo!
What will happen to my students’ apps?
Your students will continue to see the same apps in their App Launcher. After June 30, they will only see the up to date apps in the Apps Launcher. Check the Spotlight apps listing if you want to know whether an app is up to date. If you see it in Spotlight, it’s up to date.
What will happen to the Edmodo Store icons on the Edmodo homepage?
After June 30th, the Edmodo Store icon will automatically redirect to the Spotlight apps listing. The Manage Your Apps icon will no longer be displayed. The Apps Launcher icon will remain on your homepage, and it will continue to show any of your existing apps that are up to date.
How do I share Spotlight apps with my students?
There are several options for sharing an app with your students.
- Click on the “Share on Edmodo” button on any Spotlight resource page. This will allow you to share the Spotlight link as an attachment to a Note.
- Click on the “Add to Edmodo Library” button on any Spotlight resource page. This will automatically add the Spotlight app to your Library. From here, you can share this resource with your Group Folder. More info here.
- We are also building the ability for teachers to assign any Spotlight content to their students, allowing their students to access the content through their App Launcher. This functionality should be ready by Back to School 2016.
How do I change which apps show in my Apps Launcher?
After June 30th, the apps that show in your Apps Launcher will remain the same until the functionality to assign Apps to your Groups is relaunched. The feature should be ready by Back to School 2016.
I had credit in the Edmodo Store--where is it now?
Your Edmodo Store credit is still available for use on Edmodo Spotlight. When you click on your shopping cart in Edmodo Spotlight, you will see your balance listed next to “Available Credit.”
What will happen to the apps I paid for?
Existing paid apps will no longer be accessible after June 30. If your app license expires after June 30, you will be given a pro rata refund credit to be used on Edmodo Spotlight. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or if you have any questions.
Why don’t I see my app anymore in Spotlight?
Edmodo apps must be up to date to function in Spotlight. It is possible that the app you’re looking for may not yet be available. We have proactively reached out to our app partners to encourage them to enable the transition to Spotlight, but if this hasn’t happened yet, we encourage you to contact the App Creator to let them know that you would like to see their app in Spotlight.
How can I access the app if it is not yet available in Spotlight?
